PRESS RELEASE - APPARENT RESIDENCE EXPLOSION

August 14, 2023

On 8-14-23, at approximately 1014hrs, Tama County Communications received multiple 911 calls regarding a possible house explosion at or near 1117 W Ave., rural Buckingham. After fire and law enforcement personnel arrived on the scene, it was determined that the residence at 1117 W. Ave was destroyed due to an apparent explosion.

Fire and law enforcement personnel did locate a body near the residence. The body is being taken to the State Medical Examiners Office in Ankeny for examination and positive identification.

The Tama County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Iowa State Patrol and the Iowa State Fire Marshal’s Office. The Dysart Fire Department, the Traer Fire Department, and the La Porte City Fire Department responded.
