  • Dispatch Appreciation Week

    April 17, 2026

    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

This week was National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, and the Tama County Sheriff’s Office wants to take a moment to recognize our dispatchers and the role they play in public safety.

They’re the first point of contact when a call comes in. They gather the information, sort through what’s going on, and make sure the right people are sent where they need to be. It takes focus, clear communication, and the ability to make decisions quickly.

Most of what they do happens behind the scenes. The public doesn’t always see it, but it’s a big part of how everything works day to day.

We’re fortunate to have a solid group of dispatchers here in Tama County. They take the job seriously and handle what comes in.

We appreciate the work they do for this county!
