Winter Storm Warning - 12-6-2025

December 6, 2025

Winter Storm Warning Issued – Snow Expected Soon

The National Weather Service in Des Moines has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Tama County. It goes into effect at 2:20 PM today and lasts through 6 AM on Sunday, December 7.

Snow has not started falling here yet, but it is expected within the next few hours. Forecasts are calling for four to six inches. Once it begins, roads will become slick quickly and travel will be hazardous through the evening and overnight.

Our road crews have done a great job with the snow we have already had, and I have no doubt they will do an equally great job with this one. But with steady snow on the way, it is going to be tough out there.

If you do not need to be on the roads, do not be. If you do, take it slow and give the plows room to work.

For current road conditions and closures, visit 511ia.org or use the Iowa 511 app.

We will share updates when we can.
